“I think Art. Essential or Not? is a place to release and vent, especially during COVID-19. It’s a new stage for performers to reminisce and share their stories that no one truly knows. I want these artists to be heard. I want their families to hear their voices about their passion for art. I want their friends and acquaintances to hear their voices. I want them to be seen in a different way. I guess it’s safe to say, this is another SPOTLIGHT for them to express themselves because I truly believe our artistry and movement is such a powerful energy to give and provide, but the biggest instrument of our artistry is our voice, our opinions, and our stories. That’s just as important.”
Liezel wants to listen & comprehend.
“The purpose of this podcast is essentially for me to conduct research and publish material on performing arts. Instead of going by the books, I wanted to listen and comprehend stories that I relate to, and in doing so, possibly allow others to find value in these conversations.
“During this COVID-19 pandemic, I began researching mental, physical, and spiritual health, but couldn’t find any content that truly concentrated on the arts. I believe it’s because, when the world stopped and we all went into quarantine and lockdown, this shut doors, stages, and opportunities for physical activities like the performing arts. So I decided to create a new kind of stage where artists could speak on what they’re going through, how they have coped and/or continued their passion for art during these times. And after all this… do you think art is essential or not?”
